This aptly named staff is the manifestation of Chancellor Dammah’s assertions of grandeur. Although he seldom uses it for actual combat purposes, it is no less potent as a legitimate weapon.

Notes
Unlike other staves with a higher shot count than a tiered variant, Superior has no decrease in fire-rate. The primary drawback comes from its limited range (6.22 tiles, with a true range of about 5 tiles) with swerving shots that make it hard to aim.

Superior in use

In terms of DPS, Superior is one of the best weapons. Its few alternatives are also endgame. Comparisons are made on a Wizard with no buffs or equipment:

  • The T14 Staff starts to win at >48 DEF, and has a much better range. This staff is very viable to carry as a swapout or complete alternative.

  • The T14 Spellblade starts to win at >44 DEF. While its range is about equal, tiered spellblades have no amplitude and a higher true range as a result.

  • The following UT staves win at the following DEF thresholds: Crystallized Worm Spellblade (>44 DEF), Mechanical Kogbold Limb (>43 DEF), Corruption Tether (>48 DEF).

  • It is technically beaten by the Extreme Prejudice (0 true range) and Cult Staff (terrible true range, no abilities) at all DEF levels, but both are too impractical as a “primary” staff.

Remember that this is on a “base” Wizard. With the Vesture, Chrysalis, and group buffs (Berserk, Damaging, Cursed, Exposed), Superior wins against all non-EP staves against all dungeon bosses. Thus, Superior stays true to its name as the best DPS staff around. Even without buffs, this staff remains incredibly powerful. This assumes you can get in range - you may want to carry another staff for this purpose.

Players can also swap back and forth with a staff firing an odd number of shots to change the shot pattern so that it converges at the maximum range instead, making this weapon even better in the right hands.

April Fools Version
For April Fools 2022, this item was temporarily renamed to “Inferior”, with the description ” Honestly, there are better staves.”
