The Stone Guardians are the main bosses of Oryx’s Castle. They are supported by several haunted armors and are heavily armored, as well as wielding powerful swords that can break even the most powerful of adventurers.

The Realm Eye says:
Oryx invested far too many resources in creating over sixty identical suits of armor to adorn his castle rather than making any final defenses for his chamber.
To rectify this oversight, Oryx used the soul-channeling magic of golems to imbue two of the statues with the souls of his greatest lieutenants.
The Mad God had hoped for this magic to make them invincible inside their new stone bodies, but failed to realize that immortality and indestructibility are two very different matters.

Behavior

Both guardians start out at the head of the room as statues. When either one is hit, they will both activate in 3-5 seconds and go into a random attack phase. After each phase, they will choose another phase at random until at least one Stone Guardian dies. They will often use attacks in tandem, but may sometimes become “desynced” and attack individually.

The Guardians are backed up by 10 unique respawning Haunted Armors that sometimes join the fight if activated.

After one Guardian dies, the other will regenerate a large portion of its health and begin attack phase #6. The guardian will then randomly alternate between phases #1-6 until its death.

  • Transition Phase:
Done in between phases. The Guardians wander around, firing radial bursts of small white bullets.
  • Attack phase #1:The Guardians spin around in the center of the room shooting out spirals of bullets.
  • Attack phase #2:
The Stone Guardians stand on opposite sides of the room and fire 2 streams of bullets that sweep the room before converging on the center.
  • Attack phase #3:
The Stone Guardians stand in the middle of the room facing away from each other and fire large shotguns of superblasts in opposite directions. During this state, they will also launch barrages of Red Bombs all around them.
  • Attack phase #4:
The Guardians circle the middle of the room, firing pairs of bullets along the cardinal directions.
  • Attack Phase #5:
The Guardians quickly chase players while firing wide shotguns of bullets.
  • Attack phase #6:
This attack can only be used if only 1 Guardian is alive.

The surviving Guardian moves to its original spawn point and throws its sword at the center platform. The sword plants itself in the ground on impact and becomes a stationary turret that shoots out alternating waves of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal paralyzing bullets. These bullets will paralyze you long enough to be hit by the next bullet, and standing on the sword is usually instant death. The Guardian will be passive but invulnerable until the sword “turret” has been killed. When the sword is destroyed, it shoots bullets in all directions and returns to the Guardian as a yellow bomb, causing area damage around the Guardian as it resumes combat.

After both Stone Guardians are dead, a portal to Oryx’s Chamber will spawn in the center of the room.

Tips and Strategies

The Guardians are not that hard but have high DEF. Armor-Piercing weapons and abilities that Armor Break are valuable tools to speed up the fight.

For most of the Guardians’ attack phases, their bullets are easy to see and you should have no problem dodging them. They all do rather high amounts of damage, so just keep a safe distance, dodge, and you’ll be fine. Tankier classes like Knights can sometimes safely get close to the Guardians with high damaging weapons to inflict huge damage.

It is recommended to focus one Guardian at a time. If you bring both of them to low health, when one dies, it will recover a large portion of its HP, wasting your efforts.

Waiting to ensure a large group is at the Stone Guardians’ room to attack them is recommended as it will significantly speed up the fight, especially since their HP scales with the number of players.

Be sure not to stand on the spot where the Stone Guardians spawn the Stone Guardian Sword as if you sit on it, it is mostly likely an instant death.
