The highlands is the area between the midlands and the mountains/godlands. It surrounds the mountain area so the it hosts the occasional wayward leviathan or other errant god from the mountains. It generally contains the shortest road around the realm.
The highlands can generally be distinguished from midlands mainly by the presence of coniferous trees. Coniferous trees grow in the highlands instead of the broadleaf trees that are found in the lowlands and midlands. Highland deserts can be marked by the appearance of prickly pear cacti rather than columnar cacti.
High Forest Features green grass and coniferous green trees. It has occasional shrubbery and many white flowers. The enemies found here are often High Forest type.
High Plains Features grey-green grass, practically no trees, and occasional shrubbery. The enemies found here are often High Plains type.
High Forest Plains Features yellow grass and coniferous trees. It has occasional shrubbery and white flowers. High Forest and High Plains type enemies can be found here. Though it might be possible to tell the difference between what is forest and what is plains by the presence of white flowers or some other feature, it appears that very often the two are mixed together.
High Desert Features dry sand, prickly pear cacti, and succulent plants. The enemies found here are often High Sand type. |
Highlands enemies can be divided into three groups: High Plains, High Forest, and High Sand. Because of random enemy wandering and the gradual transition between different terrain types, it is often difficult to tell the difference between the areas.
Urgles, especially, seem to not be strictly bound to the High Plains.
